Fixing mistakes / Corrigiendo errores

We all make mistakes. It is a human thing.
What to do when this happens? Accept it, fix it and keep going...

And this applies as well to figure painting.
But... before fixing it, make sure you are calm and not overwhelmed by the mistake.

A couple of days ago I was doing one Space Wolf shoulder pad and while I was painting the freehand in it (the silhouette of the rampant wolf) I started to realize that something was not right... Anyway I kept painting thinking that maybe I would be able to improve it eventually with the shades and highlights.... Good option, but it did not work as expected. The size was way to big and the shape was tilted. "Come on, David. It was too obvious!!!"

"Vamos, David. ¡¡¡Estaba clarísimo!!!"

What was the solution here? Easy, paint it all over again... but not at that moment. Why? Because of something called "rushed decision". Rushed decision is a bad advisor because it makes you do the right thing but in the wrong way.
When you realize you have made s mistake a sense of anger, frustration, and lack of confidence possesses you ("David, for God's sake, you have been painting for ages, you  are not allowed to make mistakes!!!").
At this point, the best thing is to leave the figure in your cabinet (or drawer) and wait for at least one hour (disconnect from painting) and afterwards look at the mistake again and start fixing it. In my case I had to repaint the whole area again, but the final result worth the pain. :-)

Moral of the story: If you make any mistake just keep calm, take a break, fix it and carry on.
