It has been a long time since I last visited my fellow friends from the GW stores. But yesterday afternoon I was doing some Christmas shopping in the city center and I decided to make them a visit to check the new releases.I brought Nico (my son) for the first time there and he was overexcited about all the blisters and colourful boxes displayed all around the store. He was pointing to every single corner with his eyes wide open saying "Ete! Ete!..." :-)
And I am a proud father...
I went there just to check what was new and what did I miss in this last year. I promise I had no plans in buying anything... but I failed....
I am currently working on a long project, I have plenty of paints (not missing any), hundreds of miniatures... and even though I could not resist...
Doesn't also happen to you when entering a hobby store there are some miniatures that call you? You can hear them whisper from the back of the blister racks saying: "You know you don't need me but choose me. You are going to love painting me... I am the perfect figure for you...".
For God sake! Every single time!
Ok, so 30 minutes later I ended up buying Sauron and an Savage Orc. And I have to say I do not regret the decision. The Sauron figure (Finecast) has an acceptable finish, but the Orc (that is plastic) is just perfect in terms of quality.
Which makes me think how the plastic quality has improved in the last few years. It is amazing the finish of the plastic figures today. Any of you remember the first plastic wood elves or goblins, those that came with one of the first editions of Warhammer? (Mental note: This might be a good idea for a future article).
The thing is that I am looking forward to put my brushes on those two miniatures, but first of all I have to focus on my current project. So let's put them in the drawer and release them in some months.
And I will try not to visit a GW store in the near future (I really cannot control my wallet there) :-)
Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde la última vez que visité a mis amigos de las tiendas de GW. Pero ayer por la tarde, aprovechando que estaba por el centro haciendo algunas compras de Navidad, decidí hacerles una visita echarles un vistazo a las novedades.
Me llevé por primera vez a Nico (mi hijo) y le encantó. Estaba entusiasmado con los blisters y todas las cajas de colores distribuidas por toda la tienda. No hacía más que señalar a todos los sitios con los ojos como platos diciendo "Ete! Ete!..." :-)
Me siento orgulloso como padre...
Fui a la tienda tan solo para ver las novedades y echarle un ojo a las cosas que me he podido ir perdiendo durante este último año. De hecho os juro que no tenía ningún interés por comprarme nada... pero fallé...
Actualmente estoy trabajando en un proyecto largo, tengo todos los colores que necesito y cientos de figuras... pero aún así no pude resistirme...
¿Os pasa a vosotros también que cuando entráis en una tienda de figuras hay algunas miniaturas que os reclaman? Las puedes escuchar susurrando desde la parte de atrás de las filas de blisters diciendo: "Sabes que no me necesitas pero elígeme a mí. Te va a encantar pintarme... Soy la figura perfecta para ti...".
¡Todas las veces me sucede lo mismo!
Bueno, pues media hora después acabé comprándome a Sauron y un Orco Zalvaje. Y tengo que decir que no me arrepiento de la decisión. La figura de Sauron (que es Finecast) tiene un acabado aceptable, pero el Orco (de plástico) es sencillamente perfecto en lo referente a calidad.
Todo esto me hace pensar en cómo ha mejorado la calidad de las figuras de plástico en los últimos años. ¿Alguno de vosotros se acuerda de aquellos elfos silvanos de plástico o de los goblins con las lanzas y los arcos de las primeras ediciones del Warhammer? (Nota mental: Esta puede ser una buena idea para un futuro artículo).
La cuestión es que estoy deseando ponerle los pinceles encima a esas dos figuras, pero antes de nada tengo que centrarme en mi proyecto actual. De modo que las pondré en el cajón y las liberaré en unos meses.
Pero sobretodo intentaré no visitar más tiendas de GW en un futuro cercano (allí no puedo controlar mi monedero...)
te entiendo perfectamente xD, cuando voy a la tienda de mi localidad, es raro que no me lleve algo :)

Haha! Yes happens to me too, I have a box full of 'unopened things I will get around to painting one day'... which just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
ReplyDeleteI also have a bad habit of searching for 'rare & warhammer' on eBay.... I can't help but bid when I see really old stuff I remember from the 80's and 90's :)
