Looking for inspiration / Buscando inspiración

Here I am late at night trying to prepare my next project.

Current status:
IdeaCheck!
ConversionCheck!
TerrainCheck!
PrimerCheck!
Color scheme plan....: Not done (yet)

The truth is that it is quite impossible for me to start painting a model if I don't know how I want to do it.
I need to have very clear in my mind (and in a piece of paper if possible as well) the kind of colors that I am going to use as well as the order I will start painting the different parts or areas of the figure.

This is why every time I start a new project I spend several hours (days sometimes) in trying to find the perfect combination of colors. Most of the times this is a pain in the neck but it is really worthy as in this way you can plan and organize your painting schedule in a more accurate and smooth way.

This part of the project requires always some references and a lot of inspiration. Both things are easy to find if you know how to search. Now internet is plenty of artistic references, but also museum books, monographs or hobby magazines are a good source.
In order to find the inspiration sometimes the best thing is to put together some of your previously painted figures and they can help you to start moving the brain machinery to make the project running.

And here comes the question.
How many of you plan in advance the color scheme of the next figure prior to start painting it? Or do you prefer to start using the brush without having clear what will come out of it allowing only the muses to inspire you?

Buscando algo de inspiración / Trying to find some inspiration

  1. I cant speak for Ijee but I kinda develop a bit of an idea of what I want to do but I leave the option of developing the idea as I go. It depends on the extent of the project.

  5. I try to plan, but most of the time I'm too impatient and just grab the brushes.... I'm a very lazy painter :)
